Aunt Ann

My great Aunt Ann Hill returned to Heavenly Father peacefully on Sunday, February 13th 2011. I went to the funeral on Thursday, and it was so sad. But after a painful fight with breast cancer, everyone was glad she didn't have to feel so much pain and she died with a smile on her face. Uncle Marlin is going to miss her, but he'll be OK. Like Aunt Ann said, "We can do this." That is what his daughter told him, and I know they can. The plan of salvation is so important and my testimony of it is always strengthened when a loved one dies. I remember Aunt Ann as funny, happy, energetic, fun, spiritual and loving. She loved fishing, cooking and her hobby was her family. She is my grandma and grandpa's best friend and they grew up together. My grandma got Marlin to take Ann on a date because my grandma didn't want to go alone, and that's how they met. She is a great example of a righteous daughter of God, a wife, friend, neighbor, and mother. And I know we'll see her again.
ROY – Ann M. Hill, our loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, wonderful grandma and sweet friend, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2011, following a courageous fight with breast cancer.

She was born July 3, 1945 to Emmett and Elizabeth LaMont McDonald in Brigham City, Utah. She later moved to Ogden where she continued to be raised by her uncle and aunt, Everett and Elva Pope. They treasured and loved her. She was a graduate of Ogden High School and attended Stevens-Henager College.

Ann met and married her best friend and love of her life, Marlin G. Hill, on June 24, 1965 in the Logan LDS Temple for time and all eternity. Together they raised four children; daughters, Jennifer, Marlo, and Annette, and son, Matthew. She was a wonderful grandma to 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren whom she intensely loved and cherished.

She was a working mom and was employed at the Credit Bureau of Ogden for 20 years.

Ann retired in 2002 and enjoyed being a grandma, traveling and discovered a love for fishing. She loved to cook and have her family to her home. They loved to be there, visiting and eating wonderful food and just feeling the warmth of her home. She loved to serve and was always willing to help all who needed her.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Roy 12th Ward for 40 years and served in various callings. Some of her favorites were Relief Society President and Visiting Teacher with her companion, Bonnie. She had a special spirit about her that made people feel comfortable and at ease. She had a great talent for listening and sincerely caring for others.

Ann is survived by her loving husband, Marlin, of Roy; daughters, Jennifer (Anthony) Player, Marlo (Lance) Hawkins, Annette (Dan) Poulton and her son, Matthew (Kristen) Hill; 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, her brother, LaMont (Mary) McDonald and sister, Beth D. Sommers.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her uncle and aunt who raised her.

Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
