Freestone, Collin and Jake were baptized together on July 2, 2011. I'm so glad they decided to be baptized and it was so neat they got to do it together. Freestone and I share a room and we read scriptures together each night. I'd sometimes talk about his baptism, the conversations usually went like this...
"Freestone, besides getting the gift of the Holy Ghost and-"
"What if I threw you out the window, but whatever you felt I felt and I was like owwwww!"
"Umm, I don't know. Do you know why Jesus was baptized even though he was perfect?"
"Jesus got baptized naked! Did you know that?"
"Freestone! No he didn't. Good night!"
So yeah. But the few times that he was serious he really impressed me. I had made a list of scriptures related to baptism and let Freestone and Jake choose two each to read on the morning of the baptism. They were very serious and chose 2 scriptures. We even read some verses from the book of Jacob, for Jake. They knew most of the answers and we talked about what it means to take upon yourself the name of Christ.
Jake, Freestone and Collin chose their favorite colors for the color scheme of the baptism. It ended up being lime green-C, purple-J and bright red-F.
Michelle gave a really good poem for the baptism. She talked about how Jesus and John the Baptist were cousins too, each of the boys strengths and personalities and how they were following Jesus' example. It was so good! Ruby and Lexie gave talks on the Holy Ghost and my grandpa Bruce Dopp conducted. Grandpa King-Bill/Felshaw and Collin's grandpa Reid were the witnesses and both grandmas Marlene and Ann gave heartfelt prayers. Ruby, Lexie, Ari and I played Baptism/John The Baptist and it turned out really good. We had the cello, guitar, violin and flute. I loved the slideshow we watched while the boys got changed. There were really cute pictures of Free, Jakey and Coll. Ryan baptized Jake and Ryan and my dad gave great confirmations. The spirit was so strong and Ryan and my dad did a really good job.
Dinner was really yummy. We had lots of food, 200 delicious cupcakes and buckets with tissue paper and balloons for the center pieces.
I gave Freestone the list of baptism scriptures, a note and $8 for his special day. My parents gave him scriptures with his name on them, like they do for every kid. Collin's family gave him a CTR necklace, Marlin gave him a Son Of Heleman necklace and grandma and grandpa gave him more scriptures. You can never have too many right?
Congratulations Freestone, Collin and Jacob!
