On March 11, 2011 an underwater earth quake measuring 8.9 cracked. It sent a huge wave that crashed into Japan and Hawaii. It left whole villages in ruins and killed thousands of people. My friend's brother and dad were in Honolulu at the time the tsunami occurred and they had to evacuate to a church building in the mountains. He said it is one thing to hear about major tsunami, but it's another thing to really be there when it happens. It's so sad that this happened. I watched a video in science class (with Mr. Wood) and the video showed that the waves turned black when they came on land and whole houses were floating on the water and some were on fire! The water didn't even put the fires out that were riding on the waves! I learned that tsunamis don't come one time with one big wave, they keep coming and don't go back out for a long time. I want to make hygiene kits soon, so if I do I will let you all know when!
